     LAND AND PROPERTY: Halifax County, Virginia Deed Book 24, 1812-1814, p.458, FHL #0031891. Deed of Trust (mortgages transferring property rights as security for a debt) 7 May 1813. Fleming Brown of Halifax County, Virginia to Armstead Barksdale and Company for 31¹. Flemming Brown is justly indebted to s'd Armstead Barksdale and Company . . . Fleming Brown hath sold unto s'd trustee . . . 120 acres on the waters of Terrible Creek . . . the tract whereon Fleming Brown now lives, adjoining the land of John Brown, Jesse Younger, John Winon and others. Note: it would appear that this deed is null and void if Fleming Brown pays the debt before 1 Oct 1814. Signed: Fleming Brown. Wit: Jn Williams, Jn L. Williams and Fleming (X) Bales.

OBITUARY: Van Buren County, Iowa Obituraries abstracted by Rich Lowe, URL: http://iagenweb.org/boards/vanburen/obituaries/index.cgi. Rest Thee in Peace Abigail P. Flint was born in Pottsdam, St. Lawrence County, New Yrok, October 24th, 1822. There she grew to womanhood; and in the summer of 1847 came with her father's family to Iowa and settled at Albia, in Monroe County. There she was married to Dudley C. Barber, on the 21st day of March, 1848. To them were born three children, one daughter and two sons, the daughter dying in infancy. And on Nov 14th, 1851, her husband died in Monreo County. She came to Bonaparte with her two children, in June, 1853. On Oct 12, 1856, she was married to Robert Meek, and to them were born four children, one daughter and three sons. The daughter, Alma Ida, died at the age of 5 years, 9 months and 4 days. Robert Meek died September 4th, 1885. Since then she has made her home with her son, L.C. Meek, at the old homestead in Bonaparte. . . .She departed this life on Friday, Apri 22nd, 1892, at 4:40 a.m. She leaves to mourn their loss, five children: Geo. W. Barber, of Selma, Io.; D.C. Barber, of Denver, Ill., L. C. and R. E. Meek, of Bonaparte, and O.L. Meek, of Des Moines, Iowa; and ten granchidlren . . .
