Individual Note:
PATERNITY E-mail message from Paul L. Henke at P_Henke@msn.com, dated 29 Jun 2002. "I have spent a year trying to solve the puzzle of Tamson's birth and found Tamson's maiden name to be ORSON, not BUFFINGTON. Tamson (Thomasin) was the daughter of George Orson. The proof was found in the settlement of William Orson's estate. William was the brother of Tamson and died in 1741. At the time of Williams's death (he died single) he left his estate to his brother and sisters. At the time of his death Tamson was still single and was listed as an heir. However, the father was still living and William stipulated the estate not to be settled until his father's death. Some of his land was to be rented out to provide for his father for the remainder of his life. I knew Tamson would marry by about 1744 so I followed the court records on the settlement of the estate. In about 1749 the father was still living and there was record referring to him as George Orson. The estate was finally settled in 1757 at which time George must have passed away. On the settlement of the estate Tamson's name was not mentioned. Back in those days if a woman was married the husband's name would be on the documents and William Quaintance signed the documents. . .
