BIRTH: Larue County,Kentucky Tax Book; 1845-1875, dist #2, 1843, p.7, FHL F#0008102. The tax recorder, apparently stopped to chat with John McDowell and noted the following; 'John McDowell, Revolutionary soldier born Jan 23, 1759 84 yrs. old.'
PENSION: Larue County,Kentucky Court Record; 1843-1847; bk l; p.116; FHL #409412. 13 Jan 1845 personally appearing in open court of Larue County, John McDowell. . . eighty seven years . . . made oath of service during Revolutionary War. . .;
Revolutionary War Pension Record; FHL F#971678; 798 thru 860. Some pages do not refer to this John McDowell. Entry #833 is a letter, dated 7 Nov 1927, from Mrs. W.S. Dozier of Dawson, GA, requesting pension information for John McDowell. Mrs Dozier lists some of the children of John McDowell as well as birth and death dates. Also in this collection is a copy of a letter written Apr 1854 to pension office by Swepson McDowell requesting information about his fathers pension.
