Orville Franklin Rickmar was born 14 July 1920 at Bismarck, St. Francois County, Missouri. He was the son of Frank and Alice (Sago) Rickmar. He graduated from Bismarck High School. He enlisted in the U.S. Army Air Force after graduation. After training his unit was shipped out from San Francisco to Pearl Harbor, Hawaii. They were two weeks out when Pearl Harbor was attacked on December 7, 1941. He served in the Pacific Theatre throughout the war.

On 5 February 1946 at the courthouse in St. Louis, Missouri, he was married to Dollie Evelyn Ellis. She was born 1925 near Ellington, Reynolds County, Missouri. She was the daughter of William and Mamie (Allison) Ellis. She spent most of her childhood on Dickens Valley near Ellington. After the war started her family moved to St. Louis to get work in the small arms factories.

Orville and Dollie lived in St. Louis and Bismarck; for a time on Dry Valley near Ellington, then settled in Bismarck, again. Some years later they moved to St. Louis, then St. Charles, and Troy, Missouri. They returned to Bismarck, Missouri after Orville's retirement from McDonald Douglas in St. Louis, Missouri. He worked over thirty years there as a tool-maker and was a member of the Machinist Union. He was a member of the VFW also the I.O.O.F. Lodge in Bismarck.

Orville Rickmar died 9 June 1995 at Jewish Hospital in St. Louis, Missouri. He is buried at the I.O.O.F. Cemetery at Bismarck, St. Francois County, Missouri.

They were the parents of seven children:

(1) Rosalie Anne Rickmar. She married David Mayfield, Tom Sorrells, and Jim Barnett. 3 children.

(2) Sandra Sue Rickmar. She married Larry Taylor, Bruce Flowers, Sr., and Chuck Nitsch. 7 children.

(3) Rhonda Marie Rickmar. She married Robert Parker and Jimmy Wilburn. Divorced. 3 children.

(4) Lawrence Kevin Rickmar. Never married. No children.

(5) Amy Louise Rickmar. Born 5 May 1963 at St. Charles, St. Charles County, Missouri. Stillborn.
She is buried at the Troy City Cemetery in Troy, Lincoln County, Missouri.

(6) Melanie Kay Rickmar. Never married. No children.

(7) Laura Lee Rickmar. She married Jackie Boyd. Divorced. 4 children.
