William Henry Ellis was born 14 June 1891 on Logan Creek, Reynolds County, Missouri. He was the son of John and Eliza Jane (Camden) Ellis. He was a farmer at heart but also did other work at various times. Worked the the electric company in Ellington during part of the Depression. During World War II he worked at a Small Arms factory in St. Louis. Most people called him Bill. He loved baseball and the St. Louis Cardinals.

On 25 December 1914 on Dickens Valley, Reynolds County, Missouri, he was married to Mamie Irene Allison. She was born 18 November 1900 in Reynolds County, Missouri, the daughter of William and Mary (Rightnowar) Allison. She was a dearly loved mother to her ten children, and a beloved grandmother. She loved flowers and always had a pretty yard. She collected dolls in her later years and loved nothing more than to take an old, neglected doll and fix it up. After cleaning them and fixing their hair, would dress them in clothes she often made herself.

William and Mamie lived in and near Ellington, Reynolds County, Missouri, including Dickens Valley and Dry Valley. Lived in St. Louis, Missouri during World War II and some years after. Spent the last years of their lives in Bismarck, St. Francois County, Missouri.

William Ellis died 9 December 1992 at Jewish Hospital in St. Louis, Missouri. Mamie (Allison) Ellis died 30 November 1981 at the Arcadia Valley Hospital in Pilot Knob, Iron County, Missouri. They are both buried at the I.O.O.F. Cemetery at Bismarck, St. Francois County, Missouri.

They were the parents of 10 children:

(1) Mary Maude Ellis was born 19 July 1915 in Reynolds County, Missouri. She married Clarence Edwin Asberry and Charles L. Sheeley.

(2) Violet Marie Ellis was born 2 August 1917 in Reynolds County, Missouri. She married Charles Leon Bain.

(3) Archie Lee Ellis was born 27 January 1920 in Reynolds County, Missouri. He married Hazel Davis.

(4) Dollie Evelyn Ellis  was born 11 January 1925 in Reynolds County, Missouri. She married Orville Rickmar.

(5) Wilma Louise Ellis was born 1927 in Reynolds County, Missouri. She married Albert Rickmar.

(6) Harry Darwin Ellis was born 1928 in Reynolds County, Missouri. He married Bernice Knuckles and Ruth Ann Reeves.

(7) Rae Eloise Ellis was born 1930 in Reynolds County, Missouri. She married Gene Winfrey.

(8) Lucy Ella Ellis was born 1932 in Reynolds County, Missouri. She married Glenn Voyles and Bobbie Love.

(9) Betty Jeanne Ellis was born 1936 in Reynolds County, Missouri. She married Paul Mayberry.

(10) Rosalie Anne Ellis was born 1939 in Reynolds County, Missouri. She married Leroy Chatman.
