JESSE AND MAHALA (McMULLIN) ALLISON

Jesse Allison was born ca 1828 in North Carolina. His parents are unknown [See speculation]. The earliest record we have is the 1850 U.S. Census of White County, Tennesse, where he is living in the household of his older brother, James Allison and his wife Nancy (Johnson) Allison.

Jesse came to Bee Fork, Reynolds County, Missouri in the early 1850's, along with his brother James Allison and family. The two brothers lived on neighboring farms in Iron County, Missouri in 1860 and in Reynolds County, Missouri in 1870. In 1880 Jesse Allison was back in Iron County, Missouri.

Jesse Allison married ca 1853 in Reynolds County, Missouri to Mahala McMullin. She was born ca 1830 in Illinois, to Parmelia Smith. Parmelia also had a small son, Richard. Parmelia married Edward McMullin and her children took his name.

Mahala (McMullin) Allison died ca 1870 in Reynolds County, Missouri. She died of Spotted Fever. Jesse Allison died some time after the 1880 census. They are thought to be buried in unmarked graves at the Pumpkin Hollow Cemetery in Reynolds County, Missouri.

They were the parents of seven children:

(1) Mary Elizabeth Allison   was born 9 January 1853 in Iron or Reynolds County, Missouri. She married a Mr. Barton, Robert G. Berryman, and Dal Knuckles.

(2) Parmelia Jane Allison   was born ca 1855 in Iron or Reynolds County, Missouri. She married Frank Conley.

(3) William Gustopher Allison   was born 3 July 1858 in Iron or Reynolds County, Missouri. He married Mary Eliza Rightnowar.

(4) Rhoda Allison was born ca 1863 in Iron or Reynolds County, Missouri. She is listed in the 1870 Mortality Schedule for Reynolds County, Missouri: Seven years old, died in September of Diarrhoea.

(5) David Ferdinand Allison  was born 12 February 1865 Reynolds County, Missouri. He married Effie Mae Hake.

(6) Ida Allison was born ca 1867 in Iron or Reynolds County, Missouri. She married 17 May 1885 in Iron County, Missouri, to Samuel Griffith. No further information is known.

(7) Mary Allison. Appeared in the 1870 Census with her siblings and widowed father. Died infancy?
