The National School

also called - Public Elementary School (mixed & infants)

( now St Mary's C.E. Primary)  

The school is situated on Colchester Road, Ardleigh. The existing building was built in 1875 on the land given by Edward Reeve Esq, of Pigott's Hall. The original school was built to educate up to 250 children. The house to the left of the main school building was the school master's house, which today is used as part of the school. The Manor's of Ardleigh (Bovills, Martells, Piggotts and Moze were once used as school team names. The school today averages 93 children.
