| Mary Jane Baird (or Beard) was married to Hugh Meaney by Reverend John Irvin on 29th June 1852 at Dromara Roman Catholic church [1]. Rose Ann Beard from Muninabane townland was a witness to the wedding According to her death certificate Mary Jane died on 18th April 1899 in the townland of Muninabane Dromora [2]. Her death was registered by her son Hugh who is recorded as being present at the time of death. Mary Jane gave a statutory declaration on daughter Lizzie’s son Hugh’s birth registration in 1893 regarding the child’s father[3]. She is given as next-of-kin on son James Meaney's attestation papers when he joined the Royal Inniskilling Fusiliers in 1886[4] suggesting that her husband Hugh was deceased at this time.
