Abbie Jane Kittredge witnessed the Declaration for Original Pension of Catherine Ward on 24 January 1880 Danville, Caledonia Co., VT.      William T. Caswell was born 1840 son of Norman and Marietta Caswell. He died 15 June 1864 in Andersonville Prison, Andersonville, GA. He died 1 August 1864 in Andersonville Prison, Andersonville, GA. On 12 January 1861 William T. Caswell resided in Springfield, MA.

     William T. Caswell enlisted on 28 November 1863, in Danville, Caledonia Co., VT, private, Capt. Stone's Co. F, 1st Vermont Cavalry. He "was wounded in some Battle or on some raid ... and was soon after being wounded taken prisoner & carried to Andersonville prison where he died" circa 1 June 1864. "The files and records of this office show that Wm. T. Caswell should not have been taken up as "returned from missing in action." He was severely wounded and taken prisoner about June 1, 1864. Nothing further was heard from him except a report of his death at Richmond, Va., from fellow prisoners." He reported "Wounded and Missing after engagement at Ashland, Va. June 1st 1864." Roll for March and April 1865 reports him "Returned from Missing in action absent sick." Date of Parole or return not stated. M.O. Roll of Co. D said Regiment (to which he was transferred) dated Aug 9th 1865 reports him "Absent sick. No discharge furnished." No evidence of death on file in this Office. Further evidence will be obtained if practicable and forwarded to Commissioner of Pensions between 1 June 1864 and 9 August 1865.

     Abigail Weeks appears in the census of 12 September 1850, Danville, Caledonia Co., VT, in the household of Harrison Weeks. Abigail Weeks appears in the census of 4 June 1860, Danville, Caledonia Co., VT, in the household of Harrison Weeks. Abigail Weeks appears as Abba Brown, age 32, in the census of 23 July 1870, Kirby, Caledonia Co., VT, in the household of Josiah Brown. Abigail Weeks appears as Abigal Brown, age 42, in the census of 4 June 1880, Kirby, Caledonia Co., VT, in the household of Josiah Brown. Abigail Weeks is named in the obituary of Harrison Weeks which appeared 24 May 1888, as his daughter Mrs. Josiah Brown of Kirby. Abigail is the only daughter still living in 1888 whose married identity is unknown, hence the identification. On 24 May 1888 Abigail Weeks resided in Kirby, VT.

     Josiah Brown was born circa 1833 in VT. His occupation is listed as farmer in the 1870 census enumeration of Kirby. He appears as head of household in the census of 23 July 1870 in Kirby, Caledonia Co., VT, with Abigail Weeks, Cora Brown, Minna A. Brown, Mary E. Brown, and Ada Brown.130 He appears as head of household in the census of 4 June 1880 in Kirby, Caledonia Co., VT, with Abigail Weeks, Cora Brown, Minna A. Brown, Mary E. Brown, Ada Brown, and Ann E. Brown.131
