This is a 1/9 plate (2 x 2½ inches) cased tintype. Although this tintype is not identified, a later paper copy is inscribed "Freedom and Aurilla Prescott taken just before going to the Civil War." The handwriting is unknown, but appears to be that of Martha Maria (Prescott) Peck. This photograph was the property of Lula Emma (Peck) Staples and is now in the possession of the author.
