This is a 1/6 plate (2-3/4 x 3¼ inch) ambrotype in a wood case covered in black gilt-edged embossed paper and lined with green velvet. The front of the case has faded. No maker's name was found.
The image was found in a box of old photographs and mementoes which had belonged to Martha Maria (Prescott) Peck and was passed down to her daughter Lula Emma (Peck) Staples. It is presently in possession of the author.
This image may have been identified! It is possibly that of Anna (Powers) Lawrence, grandmother of Don Aura Staples, Lula's husband. Check my reasoning and see if you agree.
