This is a 1/9 plate (2 x 2½ inch) ambrotype missing its case. The image is tentatively identified as that of Freedom Densmore Prescott. The image was found in a box of old photographs and mementoes which had belonged to Martha Maria (Prescott) Peck and was passed down to her daughter Lula Emma (Peck) Staples. Although most items in this box were identified, three cased ambrotypes and two cased tintypes were not. This image may be a companion image to that tentatively identified as Aurilla Tabetha (Brooks) Prescott. The two may be betrothal portraits. The costume and photograph type are consistent with a circa 1857 date.
