William Provin Jr. enlisted on 4 June 1861, in Saltersville, NJ, Company H, 62nd New York Volunteer Infantry . He enlisted as a private, but was promoted to the rank of sergeant.⁹⁵^,⁹⁵^,⁹⁵ He was discharged from military service on 5 November 1862 Providence, Providence Co., RI, "incapable of performing the duties of a soldier because of Aphonia and General Debility."⁹⁵^,⁹⁵

Louise Josephine Axtell , daughter of D. S. and Cordelia Axtell, was born February 1846 in Chesterfield, MA.⁷⁷^,⁹⁴^,⁹⁵ She died 19 September 1918 in Westfield, Hampden Co., MA.⁹⁵

Smith Palmer of Troy is identified as the brother of Frank Palmer of Hornell, Mark Palmer of Mansfield, Layton Palmer of Mosherville, Minnie Feathers of Mansfield, and Sarah (Palmer) Inman in the latter's obituary.⁹⁷ This constellation of names are all children of O. W. and Phebe (Smith) Palmer. Sarah's birthdate, given in the obituary, matches that found in the Smith-Palmer family Bible; Minnie's married name, Feathers, is also entered in the family Bible. The inclusion of Frank Palmer in the obituary is probably an error, however. Frank died in 1858; brother Arad S. was probably still living at this time.

Belle, wife of Edward Palmer, is identified as Belle Woodard, of Armenia Township before her marriage, in her 1907 obituary. Among surviving relatives are brother Judson and sisters Nettie, Ella, and Lula. A search of the 1870 census of Armenia yielded the household of Daniel Woodard that included, among others, Isabell age 5, Antonette age 14, Judson age 10, and Luella age 11/12.
