Case, Dr. Erastus Ely. Case Family manuscript. ca. 1910. Connecticut Historical Society, Hartford, CT.

This is a fascinating manuscript consisting of 34 boxes of family group sheets, most of them based on the compiler's correspondence with family members. Goodwin's Genealogical Notes serves as the main source for early generations, with some forays into the Simsbury Vital Records, a few published genealogies, and occasional probate records. Dr. Case died 29 Oct 1918. His five-generation pedigree chart is included, and it shows why he was so interested in the Case family. His parents and grandparents were all Cases! The Case manuscripts are footnoted in many other references, but I suspect that some of those have not gone to the original. There is a rudimentary index in two volumes, but it is difficult to use. The bulk of the material consists of descendants of John Case of Windsor; but many other Case family lines are also studied.
