In August 2001, Lynn was going through some old papers and stumbled across some hand written notes about the children of Charlotte Heise.  We haven't identified the writer of the notes yet, but we thought it was possible that Lynn's Grandmother, Augusta Heise Gibson was the writer.  Augusta is one of Adolph H.T. Heise's daughters.  However, we deduced that the notes were written after 1960 (because the latest date written occured in 1959) and Augusta had passed away in 1954, leaving us with another family mystery to solve.

We just started researching this line and whoever wrote the notes apparently had a pretty good memory, because we've been able to find some of these children in the Social Security Death Indexes and most of the dates in the notes were confirmed by those records.  Our next step was to check the census soundex records for the Klitch family and see if we could obtain more documentation for Charlotte's line.

Here is the information we have found so far - we have sourced what we can, the rest is, as yet, unconfirmed:

CHARLOTTE HEISE was born about October 13, 1838 in Prussia, Germany, and died about February 02, 1925 in Baltimore, Maryland.  She married HENRY J. KLITCH.  Henry was born about December 14, 1836 in Prussia, Germany, and he died about April 10, 1916 in Baltimore, Maryland.  In the 1880 Census, Henry was 43 and Charlotte was 40.

CHARLOTTE and HENRY KLITCH had nine children:

EDMUND KLITCH (Edmund is not listed in the 1880 census with the rest of the family and he was not found elsewhere in Maryland or the Mid-Atlantic regions.  Perhaps he died as a young child?  This would explain why he is noted on the list, but without any information.  We'll keep looking!)

RICHARD GEORGE KLITCH was born about 1863 in Baltimore, Maryland.  He was 17 at the time of the 1880 census.  He married ELEANOR (last name unknown).  Richard and Eleanor had five children that we know of:

EDWARD (or possibly EDWIN) KLITCH
OLLIE (or possibly OLIVER) KLITCH
HUGH KLITCH
MARY (or MAY) KLITCH.  Her married name was LATHRUM

HEINRICH (HENRY) M. KLITCH was born about 1865 in Baltimore, Maryland.  Henry was 15 at the  time of the 1880 census.  He married CHRISTINA.

RUDOLPH KLITCH was born about 1867 in Baltimore, Maryland and he was 13 at the time of 1880 census.  He married MARY.  Rudolph and Mary had three children that we know of:

ELVIRA KLITCH.  Her married name was GRAVES.
ELLEN KLITCH. Her married name was TOWERS.
HOWARD KLITCH.

ALBERT KLITCH was born about June 17, 1869 in Baltimore, Maryland and was 11 at the time of the 1880 census.  Family records indicated that he died about May 03, 1913.

JOHN F. KLITCH, was born about 1871 in Baltimore, Maryland and was 9 at the time of the 1880 census.  He died about 1933.  He married CORA.  Cora was born about 1871 and died about 1929.  John and Cora had four children:

DOROTHY KLITCH was born August 12, 1895.  We found Dorothy in the Social Security Death Indexes and the index confirmed her birthday.  Lynn's notes indicated that Dorothy had never married.  According to the SSDI, Dorothy died in February 1982 in Gibson Island, Anne Arundel County, Maryland.

EUNICE K. KLITCH.  Her married name was SHAY.

WINIFRED KLITCH was born October 30, 1900.  Her married name was CLEMSON.  We also Winifred in the SSDI, confirming her birthday.  She on April 24, 1995, in Gibson Island, Anne Arundel County, Maryland.

JEAN KLITCH was born September 24, 1906.  Her married name was ELDRIDGE.  Jean was also in the SSDI, which indicated she died in July 1987, in Annapolis, Maryland.

CLARA KLITCH, was born about November 07, 1876, in Baltimore, Maryland.  She was 6 on the 1880 census.  She married HERMAN W. HOLTGREVE.  He was born bout April 21, 1873.  We have not found Herman's family in the 1880 Maryland census records yet, although there is another Holtgreve family in Baltimore.  Clara died about September 12, 1938.  Herman died about March 2, 1916.  We have the most information about this branch of the family, so whoever wrote the information on the Klitch family may have been one of Clara's children.

Clara and Herman had eight children:

HERBERT HERMAN HOLTGREVE, was born Bet. 1895 - 1896.  We are trying to confirm that this is the child's grave found in Baltimore cemetery with the Heise and Klitch families.  The cemetery records indicate he died about August 11, 1897 in Baltimore, Maryland, but they have his last named spelled as HOLGRAVE.

CLARENCE EDWIN HOLTGREVE, was born between November 07 - 08, 1897.  Lynn's notes indicate one date and SSDI indicates the other date.  SSDI indicates he died in September 1975 in Baltimore, Maryland.

HILDA MILDRED HOLTGREVE was born about November 10, 1899.  Her married name was BURNS.  We found a Hilda H. Burns in the SSDI with the same birthday and the SSDI indicated she died in April 1974 in California.  Lynn's mystery notes indicate that some of the Holtgreve family lived in California at some point, so there's a good chance that this Hilda is our Hilda.

SADIE BOND HOLTGREVE was born about November 17, 1901.  We found Sadie in the SSDI and it indicated that she died in December 1971 in Catonsville, Baltimore County, Maryland.  Sadie was apparently married twice.  The notes indicate that some of her children had the last name STOLTE, while they indicated that her name was Sadie Bond Holtgreve Stolte SCHNELL.

HERMAN WILLIAM HOLTGREVE was born between September 01 - 02, 1904.  He married THELMA (last name unknown).  SSDI records indicate a different birthday from Lynn's notes and that he died on September 19, 1993 in Virginia.

RICHARD GEORGE HOLTGREVE was born about March 10, 1907 and died about February 18, 1959.  We have not found him in the SSDI records yet, but are checking variations on the spelling of his name.

KARL HARRY HOLTGREVE was born September 23, 1909 and died in December 1983 in Towson, Baltimore, Maryland.

CHARLOTTE MURIEL HOLTGREVE was born about May 02, 1916.  Her married name was MEIR.

EMMA KLITCH was born about April 26, 1877 in Baltimore, Maryland.  She was 4 at the time of the 1880 census.

HOWARD KLITCH was born about 1879 in Baltimore, Maryland.  He is listed as being 1 year old in the 1880 census.
