1870 CENSUS PROJECT

Below you will find links to the 1870 census index information available. Each one is a text files. There are a few transcriptions in these files. I thought by putting the indexes online, you could check for what you need. The only requirement for using these index files is that if you lookup the actual transcription you send it to us to include in the file. We are hoping that this will inspire more of you to help with the census transcriptions.

Please note: We cannot verify the accuracy of these indexes so if the page number isn't acccurate, check a few pages either side of the one listed. When you send us the transcription you find be sure to let us know if the page number is different than the one listed.

If you already have information transcribed, just send it to us and we will include it in the file for that state.
