Comfort (Oxford) Turner's Will The following is a transcript of Comfort Turner's Will as taken from the Maryland Archives: "...or manner and form following (Flizt). Imprimis I give and bequeath unto my Daughter Sorrowful Anne Mary Disharoon one Bed and furniture that she has in use two pewter plates & one Sheep to her and her heirs or Assigns for ever. Item I give and bequeath unto my Daughter Tamer Fisher one Bed to her and her heirs or Assigns forever if she comes for it, and if she doth not come for it I give and bequeath it to my Grand Daughter Sophia Disharoon to her and her heirs or assigns forever. Item I give and bequeath to my Sons George Turner & William Turner on Shilling Sterling, apiece to them and their heirs or assigns forever, and no more of my Personal Estate. Item I give and bequeath to my two Daughters Esther Turner and Comfort Turner one Bed and furniture apiece and one pewter dish and four pewter plates apiece and all the personal Estate of what kind so ever, I have not given away above, that I have in my possession except forty shillings to my Daughter Tamer Fisher, that her Father left to her and one two year old cow to Sophia Disharoon that her grand Father left her, to be left in the hands of my two Daughters Esther Turner and Comfort Turner till Tamer Fisher comes for it and till Sophia Disharoon comes to the age of Sixteen years, to the said Esther Turner and Comfort Turner to them and their heirs or assigns forever. it is my Will that after my decease when my said Daughters Esther Turner and Comfort Turner Requires it to be divided betwixt my said two Daughters by my two neighbors (sic) John Mitchell and Leonard Johnson as they think Requisite as above mentioned without having it appraised. I also leave my two Daughters Esther and Comfort Turner Executrix's of this my last Will and Testament. Hereby revoking and disannulling all former Wills Testaments, legacies, gifts and bequests by me given or bequeathed. In Witness where of I have here unto set my hand and Seal this 10th day of October Anne Dom. one thousand seven hundred Sixty Six." x Turner Sen "The words interlined before signed and delivered are in the fourteenth line to Sophia Disharoon in the Seventeenth line comes for it in the twentieth line daughters in the twenty second line Esther and Comfort Turner in ( ) twenty fourth inc. April 17th 1767 then came John Milbourn and Elizabeth Willett the subscribing Witnesses to the foregoing Will and made oath on the holy Avengalis of Almighty God that they saw Comfort Turner the Testatrix Sign Seal and heard her publish pronounce and declare the same to be her last Will and Testament and that at the time of her so doing She was to the best of their apprehension of a sound disposing mind and memory and that they subscribed their names as Witnesses to the said Will in presence of the Testator and at his request." |
