ROBERTS

Thomas Roberts was dwelling in Dover, New Hampshire at a very early period, some say as early as 1623. In 1638 he was chosen President or Magistrate of the Court. Sevall, in his history of the Quakers, speaks of as rebuking his sons Thomas and John who were constables for excessive violence with which they enforced the laws against the Quakers and stated that he had been a church member of twenty years standing in sustaining character.

His son John married Abigail, daughter of Hatevil Nutter and was called Sergeant John. He was a delegate to the New Hampshire convention in 1699 and was a Marshall in 1680.
