           He purchased SE corner of NW 1/4 S34 T54 R36 for $10 being 1/4 acre on 24 September 1845 at Platte County, Missouri.11 He purchased land commencing at the NE corner of the NW 1/4 Section34 Township 54 Range 36 and running north on said quarter section line 2 and 1/2 rods thence West 2 rods thence soute 2 and 1/2 rods, thence east along the north line of said quarter section 2 rods to the place of beginning containing 1/4 acre for $4.00 from William D. Maynard and Mary Maynard his wife on 24 September 1845 at Platte County, Missouri.12 He purchased land being a part of the E1/2 of the SW 1/4 Section 34 Township 54 Range 36 bounded as follows: beginning at the NE corner of said quarter section running due West 20 poles, thence due south 6 poles thence due East to the Eastern line of said quarter section thence due north to the place of beginning. It being the land on which Mr. Blands saw mill stands, containing one acre more or less for $100 from Henry Burkholder and Jane Burkholder his wife on 30 September 1845 at Platte County, Missouri.13 He purchased part # 1/2 SW 1/4 S34 T54 R36 for $100 being 1 acre on 30 September 1845 at Platte County, Missouri.14 He purchased N 1/2 SW 1/2 SE 1/4 S34 T54 R36 for $300 circa 1846 at Platte County, Missouri.15 He purchased land being the N 1/2 of the SQ 1/4 of the SE 1/4 of Section 34 Township 54 Range 36 in the Plattsburgh Land district contianing 40 acres from Shelton Lowe and Mary Lowe his wife for $300 on 24 April 1846 at Platte County, Missouri.16 He appeared on the census of 1850 at Marshall Twp., Platte County, Missouri.17 He is head of household on the census of 1857 at Walnut Twp., Atchison Co., Kansas, as M. M. Bland, with 7 slaves, 4 males and 3 females for a total of 14 in the household.18 He sold land being the E 1/2 SW 1/4 Sectin 34 T54 R365 containing 80 acres for $3200 to Elizabeth Ann Bland on 21 April 1860 at Platte County, Missouri.19 Matthew Martin Bland is head of household on the census of 31 July 1860 at Walnut Township, Atchison County, Kansas, as M. M. Bland, a 43 year old male farmer who was born in Kentucky and had $5000 in real property. Enumerated with were Mary Turner, Mary Bland, Annie Bland, John M. Bland, Matilda Bland, Prillie E.
