28,627 acres. 4. 26th October, 1810--Henry Clay, Jr., and Peggy, late

McCoy deposes in Lewisburg, 7th May, 1814. John Miller settled on the
land in 1772 and Frogg settled on the adjoining place the next year. Miller
claimed under a settlement right. George Weaver had improved Frogg's
tract before Miller settled. Samuel Brown deposes as above. John Miller
was settled when deponent came to settle in 1771 or 1772.

September, 1776, under Capt. John Lewis, to serve three months at Warrie's
Fort against the Indians; again in May, 1777, was drafted by order of Col.
John Dickinson, at the request of John Wilson, to defend Wilson's Fort
on Jackson's River; again in September, 1777, to defend Clover Lick Fort
in the Company of Capt. Samuel Vance; again in 1778, served under Capt.
Samuel McCutchen under Gen. McIntosh at Fort McIntosh; again, in 1780,
under Capt. John McCoy; again, in June, 1781, under Capt. David Gwinn;

Adam Arbogast's Declaration, November 6th, 1832: Age 72; served in
1776 or 1777 as Indian spy under Capt. John McCoy and Joseph Gwinn,
and marched to West's Fort on the West Fork of Monongahela, thence
down the river to Louther's Fort, thence down the river to Nutter's Fort,
thence to Coonty's Fort; he volunteered, in 1778, under Capt. John McCoy,
Ensign Thomas Wright, as Indian spy; marched to Warm Springs, and,
with George Hull, Conrad Flesher, John Gum, was ordered back by Col.
Hugart and Col. McCreary to guard his own section.

 Archibald Morrison, heir-at-law of Archibald Morrison, deceased, and
Archibald Mains of Loudoun, vs. William Buchanan--O. S. 69; N. S. 23--
Bill filed in Ohio County 7th November, 1803. At a very early day, Isaac
McCracken improved a tract on Middle Wheeling Creek and sold it to
Archibald Morrison, Sr., who placed his brother William Morrison on it,
who resided there until 1776, when he was driven off by Indians. William
Buchanan, a brother-in-law of Archibald Morrison, deceased. Robert McCoy
deposes that he came to the Western country in spring of 1775. David
Hosack deposes that in May, 1773, he, with Archibald Morrison and five
others, came into present Ohio County, shortly after McCracken came.
Thomas Orr deposes he was acquainted with the land in September or
October, 1773. John Maxwell deposes he was present when the survey was
made. Samuel McConnell testifies McCracken's claim in 1773.

 David Hosack deposes that in May, 1773, he with
Archibald Morrison and five others came into present Ohio County. Shortly
afterwards Isaac McCracken came to a cabin which deponent had built
and was living in, and agreed with Morrison to sell him his improvement.
Thomas Orr deposes that he was acquainted with the land in September or
October, 1773. Samuel McConnell deposes that McCracken claimed the
improvement in 1773. Robert McCoy deposes he came to the western coun-
try in 1775. William Morrison deposes that he was married 23d April, 1778,
anti A. hi., Jr., was born between middle of September and Ist January
preceding. Deed by A. M. Jr. to A. Mains. Dated 30th September, 1802,
and recorded in Loudon and Ohio Counties.
