William Hoggett -
born on May 22nd 1865, the
son of Edmund Joseph Hoggett and Ann Wappatt and baptised at Lartington on the 28th by Thomas
Witham, sponsors William Hoggett and Mary Hoggett. The Teesdale Mercury announced the birth in an issue dated Wednesday May 31st 1865 - At Lartington, on the 22nd inst., the wife of Mr Hoggett, a son.
Married Elizabeth Oliver.
Baines 1890 trade Directory shows William farming at Cragg Hill, Lartington.
The 1891 census shows William employed as a farmer at Cragg Hill, Lartington
along with wife Elizabeth and children.
Whelans 1894 trade directory and Kellys Trade Directory show William
Hoggett at 58 Galgate, Barnard Castle.

A William Hoggett aged 71 died on the 25th of October 1936 and was buried at
Barnard Castle Catholic Cemetry, along with 2 of his children. The age
appears to be correct to be the same William Hoggett. The monumental
Inscription read :-
Kerb plot. Of your charity pray for the soul of Edmund Hoggett of Barnard
Castle who died 30th March 1936 aged 47 years. Also for the soul of William
Hoggett who died 18th of October 1920 aged 16 years. Also for the soul of
William Hoggett father of the above who died 25th of October 1936 aged 71
years.
William and Elizabeth had at least 6 children:-
