William George Wallis

Baptised at St Cuthbert's Church, Darlington on the 4th of April 1845, the son of Stephen Wallis and Ann Spetch.
In 1851 was living with his family at Post House Wynd, Darlington.
In 1881 William was living at Vane Terrace, Darlington. The census entry shows:
William G Wallis head 36 tailor employing 9 men 1 boy 1 girl born Darlington
Stephen Jas. Wallis son 6 born Darlington
Charlotte Wallis wife 32 Tailors wife born Leeds
Mary A Atkinson general domestic 19 born Shildon
Kelly's 1887 Trade Directory, Darlington
4 Northgate - Wm . Geo. Wallis - tailor and woollen draper
The 1891 census shows:-
11 Northgate, Darlington
William G Wallis tailor
Charlotte wife born Leeds
Stephen J son 16 tailor
Lottie Dixon niece born Leicester
Mary A Atkinson servant born Shildon.

Wards Trade directory for 1898/99 shows a W G Wallis - tailor at 4 Northgate, Darlington. 

1901 census shows 3 Greenbank Crescent, Darlington
William G Wallis head 56 Master Tailor (employer)
Charlotte Wallis wife 53 born Leeds
Lottie Dixon niece 19 school teacher born Leicester
Violet Brindley servant 17 born Stockton

1919 electoral registers show William George Wallis and Stephen James Wallis jointly having a shop at Prebend Row, Darlington. William George was living at 1 Beechwood Avenue and Stephen James at 2 Vane Terrace South, Darlington.

William was widowed in 1921. William died at 2 Vane Terrace South, Darlington in June 1928, aged 84 years. He was buried at Darlington's West Cemetery on the 21st of June 1928, grave B TT 145. the ceremony was performed by the Reverend G G West. 

William and Charlotte had  a son -
