28 December 2008 Thomas Hoggett 1868
Born in Cotherstone on
the 6th of July 1868, the son of John Hoggett and Mary
Eales, and baptised in Lartington on the 12th by Thomas Witham, sponsors
Thomas Body and Elizabeth Binks. The following information courtesy of Thomas' Great Grandson, Steve Reed. Thomas married Rose Evans. He left high Startforth with his family in the early 1890's and moved to Trimdon Station, Durham where he worked as a railway porter. They later moved to Sunderland where Thomas worked for Vaux Brewery as a Drayman, delivering the beer kegs by shire horse and cart until he died in 1925. Thomas and Rose had 10 children, one of their sons playing in two consecutive FA Cup finals.
