Thomas was christened at St Cuthbert's ,Darlington on June 15th 1828, son of John Body and Mary Connor.
In 1841 was living with his mother at Church Street, Darlington.

He married Margaret Ibitson on the 21st July 1849.Thomas was employed as a tanner. He could not write - he signed his marriage certificate with the sign of a cross.

From 1851 to at least May 1865 Thomas was living at Church Street Darlington and employed as a tanner.

In January 1865 was living at 9 Church Street, Darlington when daughter Margaret was baptised but by the December of that year was living at 5 Church Street at the time of daughter Ruth's baptism.
In 1871 Thomas was employed as a tanner and living with his family at 102 Park Street Darlington.

By 1881 Thomas was living at 4 Temperance Place, Darlington and still worked as a tanner.
Thomas was still employed as a tanner by 1887.

The 1891 census shows Thomas as an inmate at Darlington Workhouse. His wife and family were living at 6 Temperance Place.

The 1901 census shows Thomas at the Working Mans Home, Clay Row, Darlington, aged 72, along with 111 others.

Thomas died on the 20th of May1903 at the Working Mans Home in Clay Row, Darlington, aged 70 years. Presumably he was ill and could not be cared for at home. The cause of death was ' mitral regurgitation'.
His Granddaughter, Sarah Barras of Jackson's Yard ,Darlington was in attendance and registered the death. Thomas was buried at Darlington's West Cemetery, plot K 4S 122, on unconsecrated ground, on the 22nd of May 1903. The ceremony was performed by the Reverend J M Hamilton.

Margaret Boddy born in Darlington c1863 Baptised at St John's Church, Darlington on the 3rd January 1865 daughter of Thomas - a tanner and Margaret of 9 Church Street . Margaret died at Temperance Place, Darlington and was buried at Darlington's West Cemetery on the 13th of May 1891, aged 28 years. M 4P 71.
