Baptised at St Cuthbert's Church, Darlington on the 28th of June 1815 son of Jonathan - a tailor and Jane Brownless.
Worked as a tailor.
Married Ann Spetch at St Cuthbert's Church, Darlington on the 10th July 1836.

Stephen died 1st of June 1871 in Darlington.
  Ann died at Cobden Street, Darlington on the 15th of November 1886 and was buried at Darlington's West Cemetery on the 17th - on unconsecrated land,  plot B TT 153. Monumental Inscription states-

In/Memory/of/STEPHEN WALLIS/of Darlington/who died June 1st 1871/Aged 56 years/Also of JAMES LUKE GREENWOOD/of Darlington/who died April 5th 1878/Aged 42 years/Also of ANN, wife of the above/STEPHEN WALLIS/who died November 15th 1886/Aged 69 years/Also of Jane, wife of the above/JAMES LUKE GREENWOOD/who died August 6th 1916/Aged 79 years/Also of ANNIE BUCKLE/Daughter of the above/who died October 26th 1884/Aged 30 years

In 1891 was living with her sister Jane at 4 Prebend Row, Darlington and employed as a domestic housekeeper. In 1901 was employed as a housekkeeper at Brankin Moor farm, the home of nephews John and Robert, sons of her sister Fanny.
