No. 3 Prebend Row in 1829 was, according to Anthony Reeds plan of that date occupied by Mr Bland and his sisters, confectioners.
The premises now enlarged and ocupied by Messrs. Wallis and Greenwood was formerly two separate shops. Mr Stephen Wallis, tailor and Mr Tarelli, toy dealer, were the occupants. During a dispute in the tailoring trade, a number of german workmen were brought to the town. The first batch came to Mr Wallis' establishment. Some sad times followed but an understanding was arrived at with satisfaction.
