Raine

Richard Raine was my 6x Great Grandfather, born about 1737. The IGI shows the birth/ baptism of Richard Raine about 1736 in Middleside, Durham and the birth/ baptism of Richard Raine c 1737 of Crossthwaite, Romaldkirk, Yorkshire, England, both entries list his wife as Phoebe Hodgson.  Barnard Castle PR's show the baptism on 29 December 1734 of Richard son of William Raine of Barnard Castle!

The IGI shows the marriage of Richard Raine and Phoebe Hodgson at Romaldkirk on the 25 November 1762. Genuki pages for Middleton in Teesdale show the marriage to have taken place there on the 20 Nov 1762. Parish Registers show - The Banns of marriage between Richard Rain and Phebe Hodgson both of this Parish were published on the 31st day of October + the 7th + 14th of November 1762, Edward Redhead, Curate.
The said Richard Rain + Phebe Hodgson were married in this Church by banns this twentieth day of November one thousand seven hundred and sixty two by me Edw. Redhead, Curate.
(Richard signed his name, Phebe made her mark.) In the presence of Mark Newby, Thos. ?

 Phebe Raine of Middleside, wife of Richard - was buried on the 18 Dec 1791.(NBI) +PR's.

MIDDLETON IN TEESDALE Monumental Inscriptions St Mary's Church show - 
Sacred to the memory of Phoebe, wife of Richard RAIN who died 19 Dec 1791 aged 49 years. Also of Nanny, daughter of John RAIN, their son, who died 9 Dec 1795 aged 4 years.

Richard Raine, aged 70, was buried at St Mary The Virgin, Middleton in Teesdale on the 16 July 1806.(NBI). PR's show - Richard Raine of Middleton died 14 July 1806, buried 16 July 1806, 27 years.
