Mary Jane Wallace

 

Mary Jane Wallace was my 3x Great Grandmother. She was born on the 17 April 1841 at Seaham, Durham, the daughter of Thomas Wallace, a farmer, and Isabella nee Ramshaw. The birth was registered by Henry Smith, Surgeon, of Seaham Harbour, who was present at the birth.

Mary Jane married Thomas Dove on the 6th of July 1861 at Auckland register office. Mary was 21 years old and living at Escomb, Durham at the time. 

Mary Jane was present at the death of her mother in law, Hannah Dove, in 1866.

Mary Jane and Thomas had 12 children -

Mary Jane died on the 17th of December 1916 as the result of 'Inquinal hernia Irreducable 30 years, Obstruction of Intestine , Emesis - Asthenia'. Her daughter, Mary Jane was present at the death.
She was buried at St Mary's Church, Whorlton Durham alongside her husband Thomas. The monumental inscription reads -
In loving memory of Thomas Dove of Whorlton who died 12 January 1907 aged 69 yrs. Also Mary Jane wife of the above who died 17 December 1916 aged 73 yrs.
Buried St Mary's Whorlton on the 20th of December 1916.
