24 August 2008 Mary Jane Hoggett Born on the 18th January 1885 at Whorley Hill, Whorlton, Durham the daughter of Edmund Hoggett, farm labourer and Isabella nee Dove. 1901 census shows a Jane Hoggett, born Whorlton, aged 16, working as a domestic servant at Wycliffe Presbytery for Catholic Priest Charles B Donovan. Mary was 22 years old and living at Hutton Magna when she married George William Dowson Beckwith, 21 year old coal miner, living 32 Oakley Terrace, West Auckland, at St Mary's Catholic Church, Wycliffe, Durham on the 3rd of August 1907. Witnesses were J Hoggett and T Hoggett. The ceremony was performed by Charles Donovan. Mary and George had the following children -
