Mary Ann
Wallis 1814
According to the IGI Mary Ann Wallis was christened
in Darlington on 30th November 1814, daughter of Thomas
Wallis and Elizabeth Grieves. Verified by St Cuthbert's Parish
Registers.
Mary Ann could not write - she signed her name with the mark of a cross. She
married widower Robert Barras on the 15th of December
1839 at Darlington's Parish Church.
In 1839 at the time of her marriage to Robert Barras she was living at
BondGate, Darlington.
In 1871 was living at 14 Archer Street, Darlington.
Mary was widowed in 1877.
In 1881 she was living with her widowed daughter , Elizabeth, and family at
2 Watson's Yard Darlington.
Mary Ann died on the 13th of February 1887 at 2 Watson's Yard Darlington, aged 72
years. The cause of death was ' Hemiplegia 3 years 7 months and Asthemia'.
Her Grandson, Tom Porter, of 2 Watson's Yard was in attendance at the death.
Mary Ann was buried at Darlington's West Cemetery on the 17th of February
1887, plot K 4B 157. The service was held by John Rennison. For details on
