John Hoggett 1838-1877

John Hoggett (my 3 x Great Grandfather) was born in Lartington on the 7th of February 1838, and baptised the next day, the 3rd son of John Hoggett and Ann, nee Hoggett.

In 1851 was living in Lartington Village with his parents and brother William.
In 1861 was living with his parents and brother William at Cotherstone. He was employed as a farm worker.

Married Mary Eales at St Mary's Catholic Chapel, Barnard Castle on the 13th of November 1861.
At the time of his marriage John was listed as a farmer and living at Cotherstone.

In 1871 was livng at Cotherstone. the census shows:-

John died in 1877, aged 39, from ' consumption - 6 weeks'. His brother Edmund was with him when he died. He was buried in Lartington Roman Catholic Cemetry, Lartington. His gravestone reads:

Of your charity pray for the soul of John Hoggett of Cragg, Lartington who died 28th May 1877 aged 39 years RIP. A two line text follows.

Mary died on the 24th of June 1911 at Cotherstone, aged 78 years. The cause of death was 'Pneumonia 7 days and cardiac disease 6 years'. Her son , Charles of Lartington, was present at her death. Mary was buried at Lartington on the 26th of June 1911.

Mary A Hoggett - Born on the 8th of March 1864 and baptised at Lartington on the 13th by Thomas Witham, sponsors were Peter Robinson and Jane Straker.
In 1871, aged 7, was living at Cotherstone.

Charles Peter Joseph Hoggett- Born on the 10th of June 1876 and baptised on the 18th, at Lartington by Father John Baptist Bulletti, sponsors John and Mary Elizabeth Hoggett.
In 1891 was living at Cragg House, Lartington and listed as Charles Peter. A Charles Hoggett was confirmed on the 26th of June 1892. In 1911 was living at Lartington and was present at the death of his mother in Cotherstone.
