Jane Wallis 1837

In 1841 and 1851 the census shows Jane living with her family at Post House Wynd , Darlington.

Married James Luke Greenwood in Darlington in the September quarter of 1860.

1879 Electoral Registers show Jane at Cobden Street with a shop at Prebend Row.

The 1881 census shows Jane, a widow living at 2 Cobden Street, Darlington ( next door to her mother) and listed as a merchant tailor + Hatter employing 14 men, 1 girl, 1 boy. Also living with her were her daughters Anne and Fanny. Electoral Registers for 1884 show Jane living at 3 Cobden Street.

The 1891 census shows:-

Jane Greenwood 54 head widow Tailors + Hat shop keeper
Fanny K Greenwood daughter shop assistant in hat shop
Sarah E Greenwood daughter certificated school teacher
Sarah A Wallis 40 sister housekeeper dom.
Thomas F Buckle 8 nephew 

1901 census shows-
4 Prebend Row, Darlington
Jane Greenwood widow 63 hatter, shopkeeper (employer) born Darlington
Fanny H Greenwood daughter 37 assistant shopkeeper born Middlesbrough
Frederick J Buckle nephew 18 ironmongers assistant born Darlington
Martha Dunning servant 19 born Ripon

Jane and James had 3 children -

Jane died on August 6th 1916 and was buried at Darlington's West Cemetery.
