Most of the
families shown are from the North of England. Some branches have members
who have moved overseas but many have not ventured far at all.
This site is
dedicated to my Grandfather, Harry Ethelbert Barras (1919 - 1987) who
knew very little about his own immediate family. Hopefully he's met them
all now.
Where actual
dates are given, the facts have been verified with the actual Parish
Registers. Where there is just a year given the year of birth is assumed
from ages given on census details. Those taken from the IGI or the LDS
have not yet been checked against the actual entry in the Parish
Registers and are indicated by (IGI). Entries from the National Burial
Index are marked NBI.

My thanks to the above for their information
regarding the families we share. Although I do not doubt them, I hope to
check the record for myself, just to `see'. By the same token, anyone
taking information from my site should not take it as `gospel' but
verify matters for themselves. I have tried to decipher old Parish
Registers to the best of my ability but may have read them slightly
wrong. I would not like to mislead anyone.
