William died in 1878 and Sarah in 1902.

William Howarth, 57 year old coal miner of Thornley, died on the 18th November 1878 as the result of Phthisis 2 years. His son, William Howarth of Thornley was in attendance.

Sarah Howarth, aged 82 years, widow of William Howarth a coal miner, died on 30th January 1902 at Thornley as the result of embolism - gangrene of leg. Her grandson John Dickinson of Wheatley Hill was present at the death.
