Robert Grieves was my 5
x Great Grandfather. Born in Darlington about 1768 (IGI). He worked as a
staymaker.
Durham Marriage Bonds show - 15th June 1793 Robert Grieve, widower, of Darlington, staymaker, Elizabeth Nelson, 23 of Darlington, Thomas Watson, wine
cooper of Stockton.
Married Elizabeth Nelson on the 17th of June 1793.
Married Elizabeth Nelson on the 17th of June 1793 at St
Cuthbert's Church, Darlington.
Marriage entry reads;
Robert Grieve, Staymaker, and Elizabeth Nelson, Spinster, both of this Parish,
were married, in this church, by Licence, this Seventeenth Day of June, One
Thousand, Seven Hundred, and Ninety three, by me James ?, Minister. In the
presence of Thomas Snaith and John Preston.
Robert died in 1796 .
Buried in Darlington on the 5th of August 1796 (National Burial Index). Entry in
St Cuthbert's parish register states: 5th
August 1796 Robert Grieve of Darlington , staymaker, buried.
