Born in Gilling the daughter of Ralph Spence and Ann Barker. PR's for Gilling show the baptism of Grace Spence, daughter of Ralph, a tailor and Ann, of Gilling on the 20 June 1815.

Was pregnant with daughter Elizabeth when she married Ralph Atkinson Blackburn in Gilling on May 16th 1841.

Had 3 children, Elizabeth, Mary and George.

Was widowed in 1848.

Grace Johnson, aged 57 years of Backhouse Street, Darlington, wife of John Johnson agricultural labourer, died on the 29th of September 1872 due to disease of rectum? Husband John was present at the death.

Husband John died in Darlington in the September quarter of 1877.
