Elizabeth Glendenning

Baptised at St Cuthbert's Darlington on 2nd August 1824, the daughter of George Glendenning and Ann Chamberlain. 

In 1841 was living with her family at Clay Row, Darlington.


Married Thomas Crawford on 30 December 1849 at St Cuthbert's Church, Darlington.  Witnesses to the marriage were James Porter, Robert Glendenning and Mary Glendenning.
 

St Cuthbert's baptisms show- 3 March 1851 Mary Anne Crawford daughter of Thomas, a  butcher, and Elizabeth, of Darlington. Mary Anne died in Darlington in the March quarter of 1851.

Slaters 1876 - 7 Directory of Northern Counties shows Thomas Crawford, butcher, at 8 Priestgate, Darlington.


Thomas died in August 1878 and Elizabeth on 22nd January 1881. They were both buried at Darlington's West Cemetery. The monumental inscription reads - In/memory/of/THOMAS CRAWFORD/ died August 15th 1878/aged 47 years./ Also of ELIZABETH, his wife,/died January 22nd 1881/ aged 56 years./ Also of JAMES HENRY, their son/died December 11th 1889/aged 35 years./ Also of JOHN GEORGE CRAWFORD.
