Eleanor Shutt 1724 - 1812

PR's for St Mary's Whorlton, Durham show the baptism on the 21st of June 1724 of Eleanor, daughter of Francis Shute.

Eleanor was widowed 3 months before the birth of daughter Eleanor.

Married George Dawson on the 21st of May 1766 at Whorlton, Durham and had son, Jackson Dawson in 1772.

An entry in the Parish Registers for Whorlton shows - Eleanor - the widow of J Jackson married secondly her servant George Dawson and by him had a son, with whom she now lives at Ovington. She is now a widow and blind and supported by the hospital charity for blind persons. PR's for St Mary's Church Whorlton show the burial of George Dawson of Whorlton, labourer, who died 9 January 1801 and was buried 12th January, aged 72. He was killed by falling down the Tees bank near the Low Barn House.

PR's for St Mary's Church, Whorlton, Durham show the burial on 24 October 1812 of Eleanor Dawson (whose maiden name was Shutt, was first married to John Jackson) of Ovington, widow of George Dawson, labourer, died 22 October 1812, aged 88 years.

Table tomb. Here lyeth ye body of George Jakson who d. 7Dec 1754 aged 76yrs. Also Mary his wife who d. 7 Dec 1758 aged 88 yrs. Also lies interred the body of John son of the aforesaid George Jackson who departed this life 31 May 1763 aged 46. Also to the memory of John son of George +Jane Jackson + grandson of the above named John + Eleanor Jackson who departed this life 6 Oct 1776 aged 8 yrs. Also George son of the aforsaid John + Eleanor Jackson who d. 29 May 1801 aged 57 yrs. Also lies interred the body of Eleanor the aforesaid who d. 22 Oct 1812 aged 88 yrs.
