24 August 2008 Eleanor Shutt 1724 - 1812 PR's for St Mary's Whorlton, Durham show the baptism on the 21st of June 1724 of Eleanor, daughter of Francis Shute. Married John Jackson c1740 and had 12 children to him -
Eleanor was widowed 3 months before the birth of daughter Eleanor. Married George Dawson on the 21st of May 1766 at Whorlton, Durham and had son, Jackson Dawson in 1772. An entry in the Parish Registers for Whorlton shows - Eleanor - the widow of J Jackson married secondly her servant George Dawson and by him had a son, with whom she now lives at Ovington. She is now a widow and blind and supported by the hospital charity for blind persons. PR's for St Mary's Church Whorlton show the burial of George Dawson of Whorlton, labourer, who died 9 January 1801 and was buried 12th January, aged 72. He was killed by falling down the Tees bank near the Low Barn House. PR's for St Mary's
Church, Whorlton, Durham show the burial on 24 October 1812 of Eleanor Dawson
(whose maiden name was Shutt, was first married to John Jackson) of Ovington,
widow of George Dawson, labourer, died 22 October 1812, aged 88 years.
