Baptised at St Cuthbert's Church, Darlington on the 6th of August 1856, the son of Stephen Wallis and Ann Spetch.
In 1881 was living with his mother at 1 Cobden Street, Darlington and employed as a tailor and woollen draper.
 

Married Sarah.

C Wallis (Wallis and Greenwood) h. 3 Cobden Street. 
Wards trade directory for 1898/99 shows Wallis and Greenwood- tailors at 5 Prebend Row, Darlington and Charles Wallis ( Wallis and Greenwood) at 4 Prebend Row, residing 5 Cobden Street.

Charles Wallis 43 tailor + draper born Darlington
Sarah Wallis wife 36 born M... Yks
May Wallis daughter 9 born Darlington
Gertrude Wallis daughter 8 born Darlington
Kate Wallis daughter 6 born Darlington

 

The 1908/09 edition shows Wallis and Greenwood Tailors at 4 Prebend Row, Darlington.

 

 

 To the extreme left of this view is Bowser, printer and stationer, next door to Freeman Hardy + Willis, Mrs Watsons cocoa rooms are next, then Wallis and Greenwood, tailors and hosiers, next to them is Nicholsons grocery store.
