                                The Barras Branch

According to The Oxford Dictionary of English Surnames  Barras =        " dweller by the outwork of a fortress" or " a seller, dealer".

Thomas Barras ( my 5 x Great Grandfather) married Eleanor Small in Newcastle Upon Tyne on October 31st 1763.(IGI) Index to All Saints Church, Newcastle Upon Tyne verify this. 

They had at least five children:
bulletDorothy Barras christened at All Saints Church, Newcastle on 19th February 1764 (IGI). According to the IGI a Dorothy Barrass married Thomas Charlton at All Saints Church Newcastle on the 27th of October 1794.
