I William Hoggett of Cragg near Lartington in the Parish of Romaldkirk and North Riding of Yorkshire, Farmer aged Seventy one years do solemnly and sincerely declare That I have lived on the Lartington Estate all my life and have for the last Forty seven years been a Tenant on such estate and am well acquainted with the lands comprised therein which formerly belonged to Henry Maire Esquire (afterwards Sir Henry Lawson Baronet) and subsequently to the late Mrs Catherine Silvertop Maire afterwards to the late Henry Witham Esquire and now to the Revd. Thomas Witham part of which lands are situate in the Township of Lartington and Cotherstone in the said Parish of Romaldkirk. That I knew Joseph Steadman William Lumley and William Henderson who in the year One thousand eight hundred and eleven and subsequently were Tenants under the said Mrs Catherine Silvertop Maire and Henry Witham Esquire . That the said Joseph Steadman in the year One thousand eight hundred and eleven and subsequently was tenant of a messuage or dwellinghouse and farm situate in the said Townships of Lartington and Cotherstone containing fifty two acres or thereabouts. The said William Lumley was tenant of a messuage or dwelling house and lands held therewith situate in the said Township of Lartington and containing ten acres or thereabouts. The said William Henderson was tenant of a messuage or dwelling house with the lands held therewith situate in the said township of Lartington, containing nine acres and a half or thereabouts. That I have examined the plan annexed to this my declaration and that the numbers to the fields (within the township of Lartington) shown on the said plan correspond with the numbers as marked upon the tithe commutation plan of the township of Lartington such tithe plan having been shown to and examined by me and that the messuages farms and lands which at the time before mentioned were then in the respective occupations of the said Joseph Steadman William Lumley and William Henderson are those shown on the said plan annexed to this my declaration and are now in the respective occupations of the persons mentioned and set forth in the schedule hereunder written. And I make this solemn declaration conscientiously believing the same to be true and by virtue of the provisions of an Act made and passed in the fifth and sixth years of the reign of His late Majesty King William the fourth intitled " An Act to repeal" an Act of the present Session of Parliament intitled " An Act for the more effectual abolition of oaths and affirmations taken and made in various departments of the State and to substitute declarations in lieu thereof and for the more entire suppression of voluntary and extrajudicial oaths and affadavits and to make other provisions for the abolition of unnecessary oaths" The Schedule above referred to Tenants names Description of Property No. on tithe plan Acreage Present tenants in the year 1811 Lartington Joseph Steadman Messuage and farm 103 Richard Dent in the Townships of 212 William Hoggett Lartington and Cotherstone 202. 210. 211. 213. 214. 52 acres.... 215. 216. 217. 256. 258.
