Daniel Charles Lawrence

(Nov 11, 1872-Nov 23, 1936)

Daniel, the son of Patrick Lawrance and Anna Louge, was born in Philadelphia on November 11, 1872. How he got to Boston is a mystery to me. But there he meet and married Mary Francis McCluskey on November 8, 1891. Daniel was a printer. I have been unable to find him or his family in the 1900 census. In the 1910 census he, his family and his father are living in Boston. In the 1920 census he, his family and his grandchildren are living in Somerville, MA. The two grandchildren are the children of Alice who married George Vetterman. Although Alice is living there George is not.

In 1923 Daniel walked out on the family and was never seen or heard from again. Until the release of the 1930 census his fate was unknown to anyone. I did find him in the 1930 census at the Tewksbury State Hospital in Tewksbury MA.  He was first admitted there Dec 11, 1928 and was discharged April 7, 1930 but then was readmitted April 14, 1930 where he stayed till he died on November 23, 1936. He is buried in the cemetery outside the hospital. It is said that his gravesite is marked with a numbered marker but because of the condition of the cemetery, over grown, it has not been found. According to his death certificate, he died from gangrene that was caused by diabetes.
