     Solomon Greathouse In 1864, Solomon stated he was 44 years old and born in Roane County, WV when he volunteered (Widow's Pension Application #206,193. Margaret, widow of Solomon Greathouse alias Solomon Mc He was a member of Co. E 173rd Regt, Ohio Volunteers. He apparently divorsed his first wife f although his mother's maiden name was McDade. Papers in his record claim that Solomon was an illigitimate child. He was born in 1815 at Harrison County, Virginia. He was the son of John Greathouse and Sarah McDade. Solomon Greathouse married an unknown person on 12 February 1841 at Jackson County, Virginia. He died in 1849. He married an unknown person on 16 May 1851 at Burlington, Lawrence County, Ohio. He died in 1865 at Nashville, Tennessee.

The 1860 census for Roane County shows Eliza E. Radabaugh living w Greathouse, son of Willia m H. Greathouse. The 1850 census shows a James N. Greathouse, age 19 living with the family. This is probably the brother of William. It is not known what the relationship is between William and Sarah. It is possible that John had an earlier marriage, but if so, no record exists. He married an unknown person on 25 May 1822 at Virginia. He died at Roane County, West Virginia.
