Children of the Fall

100,000  British Children   were exported to  the "Colonies" from the mid 1800's to the mid 1900's

Their crime, to be destitute, poor or orphaned.

The children worked on farms or as domestics.

This experiment  led to a better life for a few but for others it was an absolute tragedy.

"Child emigration was born in an age that did not know and could not heed the emotional life of a child: the need of all children for words that are kind, deeds that are compassionate, homes that are secure."

...Kenneth Bagnell from "The Little Immigrants"

Dedicated to the memory of

James and Robert

Robert, Elizabeth, John, James and Margaret

They too were

"Children of the Fall"

Circumstances and poverty.  Orphans and abandonment. Britain and the Colonies.  Cheap Labour.

Who and What are "Britsh Home Childen"?

A very personal journey of discovery.
