• Newspaper Article: 1868, Jefferson County, Pennsylvania. ⁴⁵⁶ Butler, aged 74 years, 4 days. She was a member of the ME Church for 42 years. She joined, with her husband, the ME Church in 1826 in Luzern, Warren Co., NY, under faithful preaching of Bro. Roswell Kelly at that time of the Troy Conference, NY.
In 1829 the Butlers emigrated to Penna. and located near Brookville. On laying out the town of Brookville in 1830 or soon thereafter, Brother Butler bought a lot and built a house in which was held the first prayer meeting ever held in Brookville. Their home immediately became the stopping place for the pioneer itinerants of ME Church.

Mary married Cyrus BUTLER, son of James BUTLER and Ester WADSWORTH. (Cyrus BUTLER was born about 1789 in Massachusetts ¹⁴⁵⁹.)
