GRAFTS and SPROUTS
Of the
NELSON-ESKELAND - CARLSON-BERGLUND FAMILIES

A collaboration of shared information by the family, creating a picture of the past - for ourselves, and our future generations.
A sincere "thank-you" to all of the family for so generously contributing memories and statistics: Norman Nelson, Jr; Gloria Hill; Art Eskeland, and his daughter Ruth McDonald, from Canada; Marian Potter; and especially Jan Newton, Francie Newman, and Eileen Lundquist, for their recent and interesting letters; and the informative letters from Norway sent by Ingaborg and William Hatleskog, in 1974. Hilda sent her "Memories of Home," in 1971; Olle Wilholm, a letter from Sweden in 1974; Frank Carlson's visit; Myrtle's help; and Ann's collection of papers and pictures. A "special thank-you" to Kathy and Cary, and to Cary's staff at Parnell Photography for their skill in reproducing the old photographs. Cousin Britta Modig, of Sweden, has kindly shared her genealogical research, giving us the Berglund Branch of the "Family Tree."

The roots of the tree grow deep into the soil, and produce its own kind - yet, without new growth it would be stunted.

Some of us have become part of the "Family Tree" through the Holy bonds of matrimony. Others of us were grafted into the Tree - through the bonding of love. Over the years the Tree has withstood many storms, growing stronger and taller - and our "Little Sprouts" must be loved and nourished carefully, that they will mature bountifully.

With affection and love,
Jack and Helen Nelson
