The Wedding of Boetius Henry Sullivan and Mary Loretta Connery Dec 27, 1912, St Matthew's Roman Catholic Church, Chicago, Illinois |
Introduction
Loretta Connery Sullivan's Wedding Gift Index
News Articles
Introduction - I was told that Bo Sullivan met Loretta Connery when he was delivering Christmas baskets from his family to the neighbors
on Washington Blvd. I was surprised to see that (Papa and Dada) as their grandchildren called them were engaged for over five years.
I
was also surprised to see that "Bo" is the one checked off in the acknowledgements column of the wedding gift book.
Did Papa write all
the thank you notes? How progressive! As far as gifts, it looks to me like cut glass items were the most popular.
I'd love to know what
happened to some of those Tiffany lamps. Thanks to those who shared info for this page.

Side Society News - Connery-Sullivan Wedding Easily a Top-Liner for Christmas Week - The marriage of Miss Lorreta Connery,
daughter of Mr. and Mrs. James P. Connery, 2933 Washington boulevard, to Boetius Henry Sullivan, son of Mr. and Mrs. Roger C.
Sullivan, was celebrated Wednesday morning at 9:30 in St. Matthew's Roman Catholic Church. The ceremony was performed by
Chancellor Edward Hoban, assisted by Rev. J. F. Callaghan, Rev. James F. Flood and Rev. Philip Furlong. Miss Helen Connery attended
her sister as maid of honor and the bridemaids were Misses Mary Sullivan, sister of the bridegroom; Miss Josephine Ryan, Miss Marie
Keefe and Miss Gertrude Connery (sister). The bride wore a white satin gown trimmed with duchesse lace with a full court train. Her
veil was fashioned of Brussels point lace held in place by strands of pearls and orange blossons, and she carried a shower bouquet of white
orchids and lillies-of-the-valley. The maid of honor was gowned in delicate pink charmeuse satin with an overdress of white lace. A large
pink plumed hat and a bouquet of pink bovardias completed her costume. The bridemaids were dressed alike in white lace robes over
white satin with Watteau trains of pink satin. They wore pink Tulle hats and carried bouquets of pink bovardias and lillies of the valley
tied with pink silk gauze. John P. Hopkins served as best man and the ushers were William McGaffe and Joseph O'Connell of Boston,
William Kennedy of Buffalo, Robert Wolff and Leo Cummings (future brother-in-laws of groom), Harry Furlong (cousin of groom), Vincent
A. Connery (uncle) and William J. Connery, brother of the bride. The decorations were entirely in pink and white. Immediately following
the church service, a wedding breakfast for the immediate family was served at the home of the bride's parents. Mr. Sullivan and his
bride will pass their honeymoon in the east and on their return will reside at the Hotel Somerset, Boston. They will be at home after Jan.

"Million-Dollar Kid" is on Honeymoon - Boetius Henry Sullivan, Son of Democratic Boss, Secretly Marries Loretta Connery in Chicago
When on Vacation from College - Special Dispatch to The Inter Ocean - Cambridge, Mass, Dec. 31 - Harvard's student with the "golden
smile," Boetius Henry Sullivan, known widely as the "Million Dollar Kid," son of Roger Sullivan, the Chicago Democratic political boss,
is now on his honeymoon in New York with his bride, who was formerly Miss Loretta Connery on Chicago.
Sullivan, who is one of the brightest students in this year's graduating class in the law school, left college for his Christmas holidays, but
kept the fact of his coming wedding a close secret. He went to his home in Chicago where the knot was tied.
The couple were boy and girl sweethearts. Sullivan was one of the most lavish spenders in his academic days at Andover. He continued
his generosities at Harvard.
He will graduate in June, when the couple expect to resume their honeymoon in a tour through Europe.
His Harvard friends are preparing to welcome them on the groom's return to his studies.
