The Magoffin County Historical Society is planning to commemorate the life of John McGuire for his Revolutionary War Service. The graves of he and his wife, Nancy Holden McGuire cannot be pinpointed. So, arrangements have been made to erect stones for them in the Hammond Cemetery. In addition, they have accepted the suggestion that we commemorate the lives of all Magoffin County Revolutionary War and War of 1812 (we have 8 of them) Veterans with a monument in the new Pioneer Village in the heart of Salyersville Kentucky. This dedication will take place in 2001. We need to help financially with this project. We must spread the word to all descendants of these heros and make this a monument of love and gratitude!
