2. Thomas ECKFORD ⁽⁸⁾⁽⁹⁾ was born in 1795 in Scotland. He was christened on 23 Mar 1796 in Innerleithen, Peebles, Scotland.⁽¹⁰⁾ He was living in 1823 in Madison Co, Alabama.⁽¹¹⁾ He appeared on the census in 1830 in Morgan Co, AL. (pg 187) He appeared on the census in 1840 in Fayette Co, TN. He appeared on the census in 1850 in Tipton Co, Tenn. He died between 1852 and 1860. Land purchases in Morgan County (Range 4 W, Township 6 S)

Note: These are all contiguous, about 7 miles west of Somerville.

In Jan 1834 William Eckford and Murdock M. McKenzie became partners in a merchandise business in Somerville. In 1838 McKenzie sued Eckford. Thomas had moved to Tipton Co, TN and bought a town lot with Joseph R. Eckford in Jan 1837. The 1850 census record suggests that Thomas had a wife prior to Delitha.

An 1845 Morgan Co, AL court refers to a disposition dated 25 Aug 1837 by Thomas Eckford about 40 years of age (in 1837).

He was married to Delitha BECTON about 1836. Delitha BECTON ⁽¹²⁾ was born in 1818 in TN. ⁽¹³⁾ She appeared on the census in 1860 in Tipton Co, Tenn. She died on 16 Jul 1887 in Tennessee.⁽¹⁴⁾ Delitha was the daughter of Frederick Edwin Becton and Fannie May.

15 viii. Robert M. ECKFORD was born in 1852 in Covington, Tipton Co, TN. He appeared on the census in 1880 in Tipton Co, Tenn. Sisters Fannie and Mary are living with him in 1880 census.
