3. John (twin) ECKFORD ⁽¹⁷⁾ was born in 1795 in Innerleithen, Peebles, Scotland. He was christened on 25 Mar 1796 in Innerleithen, Peebles, Scotland.⁽⁶⁾ He died on 3 Sep 1833 in Tipton Co, Tenn. John was a private in the War of 1812 in the 7th Regiment (Perkins Battalion) of the Misssissippi Militia per www.oldhuntsville.com/p581.html

He was commissioned to survey and lay off lots for town of Covington, TN per Worth Ray.
He made several land transactions in Tipton County (first on 28 Dec 1823 Deed Book D-86) before his early death and is listed in the 1830 census with wife, 3 sons and 1 daughter.

His will is recorded in Tipton County, Will Book A, pg 27.
"I John Eckford being of sound and perfect mind and memory do make and publish this my last Will and Testament in manner and form following, that I do give and bequeath unto my beloved wife Elizabeth Eckford all my real and personal property of what kind and nature soever. I give and bequeath to my said wife Elizabeth whom I hereby appoint sole executrix of this my last Will and Testament so long as she remains a widow. And I do hereby order and decalre that my last Will is that if my said wife Elizabeth should marry that all my real and personal estate shall be divided between said Elizabeth my wife and her four children to wit Francis M. Eckford, Martha B. Eckford, James H. Eckford and John F. Eckford and I do further desire that said Elizabeth shall give to any of the within named children any of the property when she sees fit. In witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand and affixed my seal this first day of May in the year of our Lord 1833.

Recorded September term 1833. Elizabeth with Joseph White and Marquis Calmes (sheriff in 1833) posted bond of $2000.

He was married to Elizabeth S. FISHER on 20 Nov 1816 in Madison Co, AL. ⁽¹⁸⁾ Elizabeth S. FISHER was born on 20 Mar 1797 in Lancaster Co, PA.⁽¹⁹⁾ She died on 2 Mar 1887 in Mineola, Wood Co, TX.⁽²⁰⁾ She was living with daughter Martha in Columbus, MS in 1850 and 1860 and grand-daughter Matilda in Texas in 1880.
